Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has officially commenced the first phase of Census 2027, focusing on House Listing and Housing Operations for the year 2026.
This national initiative is being conducted through a collaborative effort between the Directorate of Census Operations, Odisha, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the State Government.
Marking the launch of the self-enumeration facility on April 1, 2026, the Chief Secretary of Odisha, Smt. Anu Garg, completed her own enumeration through the official portal. This marks the first time in the history of the Indian Census that a provision for self-enumeration has been introduced for the public.
The census process is divided into two distinct stages:
From April 1 to the midnight of April 15, citizens across all 30 districts of Odisha can visit the official portal at https://se.census.gov.in to submit their household details personally.
Starting April 16 and continuing until May 15, trained enumerators and supervisors will conduct door-to-door visits to collect data from households that did not utilize the self-enumeration option or to verify records.
Chief Secretary Smt. Garg urged the citizens of Odisha to participate actively in this national program by providing accurate information through the self-enumeration portal. She emphasized that public cooperation is essential for the success of this monumental task and extended her best wishes to the people of the state.
The commencement of the self-enumeration process took place in the presence of several high-ranking officials, including the Director of Census Operations, Shri Nikhil Pavan Kalyan; Joint Directors Shri Hemant Kumar Singh and Shri Haradhan Karmi; Assistant Director Shri Umakant Sahu; and Deputy Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Smt. Priyadarshini Jena.
