Bhubaneswar: In response to the escalating situation in West Asia, the Directorate of Odisha Paribar has intensified its efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the Odia diaspora.
Officials from the Directorate recently held a high-level discussion with Shri Amiya Mishra, President of Odia Samaj UAE, to review the status of the community.
Shri Mishra noted that the Consulate General of Dubai has already conducted a virtual meeting with all Indian Associations, advising Indian nationals to work from home as a precautionary measure. He confirmed that the Odia diaspora in the region is currently safe.
Dr. Bijaya Ketan Upadhyay, Secretary of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, is personally monitoring the situation in real-time to facilitate immediate help.
He highlighted that the Directorate is in constant contact with the Odia Samaj UAE. In the mean time Embassy of India in Bahrain has issued a specific advisory urging all Indian nationals to exercise due care and stay updated through official news and local authorities.
Dr. Upadhyay reiterated that the Directorate of Odisha Paribar is always ready to assist and remains fully prepared to handle any crisis affecting Odia citizens abroad.
The Ministry of External Affairs has further strengthened support by forming a dedicated WhatsApp group for the evacuation of stranded Indians and has activated emergency toll-free helpline numbers.
To ensure widespread awareness, the Directorate is maintaining continuous communication with the Principal Resident Commissioner’s office in New Delhi and has shared all necessary MEA guidelines and safety advisories with Odia associations across the Middle East and West Asia.
