OBCC Boosts Smart Puri Infra

Bhubaneswar: The bustling coastal city of Puri is set for a major transformation as the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC), operating under the state’s ABADHA scheme, accelerates the development of several iconic projects.

Principal Secretary, Department of Works and OBCC Chairman, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh has conducted a detailed review of these initiatives, directing officials to fast-track their completion to enhance the city’s infrastructure and visitor experience.

The iconic Puri sea beach road, a lively hub of activity with tourists, hawkers, and families, is undergoing a significant transformation. The OBCC, a government-owned enterprise, is spearheading a series of development projects under the state’s ambitious ABADHA scheme.
This initiative, which stands for Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture, is aimed at turning Puri into a world-class heritage city

One of the key projects is a state-of-the-art Multi-Level Car Parking facility at Digabareni. This new facility aims to alleviate this issue by providing ample and organized parking, creating a smoother flow for both vehicles and pedestrians. The project is designed to be more than just a car park; it seeks to create a safer and more welcoming environment where all users can coexist, blending efficient mobility with the thriving local commerce.

Another significant initiative under the ABADHA scheme is the development of a modern Dharamshala at Baselisahi. This project is a direct response to the long-standing demand for affordable lodging for pilgrims and visitors to the Holy City. The new Dharamshala will provide a much-needed, low-cost accommodation option, making Puri more accessible to a wider range of tourists. .

The combined efforts of OBCC and the state’s ABADHA scheme are poised to not only upgrade Puri’s physical infrastructure but also to preserve its unique cultural and commercial vibrancy, ensuring it remains a premier destination for both spiritual seekers and casual travelers.
