OAS Defers Protest After CM Intervention

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association has announced the postponement of its planned mass leave, initially slated for today, following a late-night meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by the Chief Secretary (CS), Director General of Police (DGP), Commissioner of Police (CP), and Advocate General (AG), met with association members for almost an hour at 11 PM, assuring them of stringent legal action against those responsible for a recent incident, “however powerful they may be.”

In a statement released by the President and Secretary of the OASA, it was confirmed that three accused have already been arrested, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend others involved. The Chief Minister appealed to the association to have faith in his administration and urged them not to proceed with their leave, leading to the postponement of the protest.

While the mass leave has been deferred, the state association has requested all district associations and members of the fraternity to convene tomorrow to condemn the incident and forward a copy of their resolution to the state body. Further steps will be communicated by the State Association.

The OASA reiterated its commitment to supporting its members, stating that it “stands by each member like a rock and is ensuring all possible remedies that no such acts shall ever happen.” The association also highlighted the unified support from other prominent associations, including the IAS, OFS, ORS, and OSS associations.

This development comes after the OAS Association had previously threatened mass leave to protest the alleged assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
