Balasore: A large number of students from many colleges, universities have rendered essential services like rescue operation, distribution of food packets, biscuits, water bottles, ORS in Balasore, Bahanaga, Soro, Bhadrak and Cuttack hospitals, where train tragedy victims are under treatment.
Bisnhupada Sethi, Principal Secretary Higher Education made a follow up effort to mobilize volunteers for serving the victims. More than 1000 NSS and Youth Red Cross Volunteers under Department of Higher Education have come forward to serve the victims of unfortunate Train Accident at Bahanaga.
Shri Sethi, who has served as Special Relief Commissioner has moved the Principals of the Colleges and his sincere effort has come at a crucial period, when about 1000 train passengers were left injured due to an unfortunate train tragedy.
Student volunteers also donated around 700 blood units in their local medical centres and IRCS blood centre.
Shri Sethi appreciated the efforts of the students from KKS Women’s college, Nilamani Degree College, Baba Panchalingeswar College, U N College, Soro, Soro Women’s College, Nilakantheswar Degree College, Sarasatwa Mahavidyalaya, Anantapur, Dr J N Mahavidyalaya, Balikhanda Degree College, Remuna Degree College etc. from Balasore district, Ghanteswar Degree College, Basudevpur College, Panchayat Degree College, Barikpur etc. from Bhadrak district, Salipur Auto College, SB Women’s Auto College, Stewart Science College, Ravenshaw University from Cuttack District, BJB Autonomous colleges, Ramadevi Women’s University, KIIT University, Kamala Nehru Women’s College etc from Khurda district who are keenly involved in the above activities.
Volunteers from many Higher Secondary Schools and other universities also got associated in some places.
