NRAI Marks 75 Years

New Delhi: The National Rifle Association of India(NRAI) celebrated a monumental milestone in New Delhi, marking 75 years of the Association’s journey in a ceremony that spotlighted India’s transformation into a global shooting superpower.

The event was graced by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, whose presence underscored the Union Government’s commitment to maintaining the country’s momentum on the international stage.

With an illustrious tally of 577 international medals, including 210 golds and seven Olympic honors, the NRAI used the anniversary to reflect on a legacy of excellence while pivoting toward an ambitious future.

NRAI President Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo praised Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya’s dynamism, noting that the Union Minister’s visionary efforts have been instrumental in scaling up the sports infrastructure across the nation.

The roadmap for the coming years is centered on a massive grassroots expansion. In a bold move to democratize the sport, the NRAI Chief Shri Singh Deo announced a nationwide outreach initiative aiming to introduce 7.5 lakh school and college students to shooting.

This talent identification program is designed to ensure that the next generation of champions is discovered early and supported through a structured ecosystem.

NRAI Chief Shri Singh Deo emphasized that the federation’s success is built on more than just podium finishes; it is the result of a cohesive network of athletes, coaches, and institutions. To further professionalize the sport, the NRAI is prioritizing high-performance systems and coach development programs that align with the highest global standards.

Adding a modern edge to the sport’s profile, the upcoming Shooting League of India was highlighted as a key pillar for future engagement. The league is expected to bring unprecedented visibility to shooting, turning it into a spectator-friendly sport while providing athletes with a high-stakes competitive platform.

As the NRAI enters its next chapter, the synergy between the federation’s strategic planning and the government’s support suggests that India’s grip on the global shooting leaderboard will only tighten.
