New Delhi: The focus of the inaugural ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun New Delhi 2025 was firmly placed on the future of the sport, as Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), emphasized the event’s importance for Indian shooting and global talent discovery.
Shri Singh Deo delivered his remarks during a vibrant and culturally rich opening ceremony held on Thursday evening at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
In his address, Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo proudly declared, “It is a proud moment for India to host the first-ever ISSF Junior World Cup in the country.” He highlighted the critical role that junior-level competitions play in shaping the next generation of champions, stating, “Junior competitions are where tomorrow’s Olympians are discovered, and this event is a milestone for Indian shooting.“
The NRAI President extended a heartfelt welcome to all participants, both athletes and officials, expressing his hope that their experience would be memorable far beyond the competition results. “I extend a warm welcome to all athletes and officials, and hope you take back not only medals but also fond memories of India and the friendships you make here,” he concluded.
His sentiments were echoed by other dignitaries, including Mr. Peter Underhill, Sports Director, ISSF, who praised India’s high standards in hosting shooting events, and Mr. S.B.K. Singh, Director General of Police & Chief Guest, who focused on the broader values of sportsmanship and resilience.
