Bhubaneswar: The Forest Department Officials with help of Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police today arrested two notorious poachers involved in a three year old Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) poaching case in Simlipal. The arrested accused are identified as Mohato Kisku and Thupul Hembram.
“Mohato Kisku and Thupul Hembram, two notorious poachers involved in a 3 year old RBT poaching in Simlipal were apprehended today. STF had seized the skin earlier; the teeth & whiskers were seized today. Salutations to the Commitment of team Simlipal in solving an old case,” PCCF Wildlife Susanta Nada informed on X.
Both are notorious poachers, about 2.5 years back they poached a RBT. Later the STF crime branch had seized skin. They were absconding for many days, officials said.
During interrogation, Thulu accepted that he had tiger teeth in his possession. Once again a raid was conducted in presence of the independent government. Witness and seized four RBT teeth, whiskers and about 80 arrows along with gunpowder and pellets. Both have been forwarded to judicial custody, they said.
