No New Proposal Sent Under JJM

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has sent no new proposals have been submitted to the Government of India for inclusion in the extended Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) phase.

Minister for Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Sri Rabi Narayan Naik, addressed a question from Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, BJD MLA, Balangir in Odisha Legislative Assembly today.

However, Minister has said funding to continue rural piped water supply projects under the JJM will continue, despite a recent letter from the Centre stating no new funds would be released until the scheme’s extension is approved.

The Minister stated that adequate funds have been provisioned to ensure the execution of ongoing projects until further funds are released by the Government of India. He also confirmed that no piped water supply projects are currently stalled due to a lack of funds.

The Minister provided a detailed breakdown of the ongoing projects:

  • Mega PWS Projects: Out of 207 projects, 21 have been completed, while the rest are ongoing.
  • SVS/MVS Projects: Of the 19,105 projects taken up, 18,185 have been completed.
  • Solar PWS Projects: Out of 8,633 projects, 5,641 have been completed.

In response to a query about the state’s budget for these initiatives, the minister announced that the state has made a budgetary allocation of Rs. 7,000 crores for the 2025-26 fiscal year to execute the piped water supply projects.
