Bhubaneswar: Following the instruction of the State Election Commission (SEC), the Higher Education Department has directed all universities and degree colleges not to hold any examination during March 22 to 24 on account of the Urban Poll.
In a letter to the Vice-Chancellors of all universities, principals of all government/ non-government degree colleges, the Higher Education department has asked not to schedule any examinations on these dates.
Earlier, the SEC had informed the Department that some of the colleges both government and aided have been identified as polling booths for the Urban Poll.
These college buildings will be utilized for polling booths from March 22 to 24. Besides, students in urban areas are eligible to vote in these elections on March 24, 2022.
“It has been brought to the notice of the Commission that some of the universities in the State have issued a programme for 5th Semester examination for degree classes which clashes with the poll schedule issued by the Commission. It is further understood that the Universities have issued the programme as communicated by the Higher Education Department,” the Commission said.
In view of the above, the Commission directed that the examinations scheduled from March 22 to 24 should be deferred so that general elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) could be held smoothly in the State.
