Bhubaneswar: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Wildlife, Susanta Nanda has a problem. He has endless innovations programs as to how to make Odisha Wildlife attractive.

After his take over as Chief of Wildlife Organization of Odisha, several innovative initiatives have been ushered in.

Shri Nanda, a true nature lover believes in educating all about wildlife and nature, which he does with all sincerity and devotion.

At the helm of Odisha Wildlife, Shri Nanda has initiated an innovative program with an aim to educate people especially students about the nightlife of wildlife animals.

State Wildlife Organization has started Night Out at Zoo- an innovative educational program at Nandankanan Zoological Park today. 

This is an outstanding educational program in which participants can learn about wonderful night time adaptations of nocturnal animals when the forests and their diverse inhabitants come to life, said Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Wildlife, Susanta Nanda said.

The program aims to educate the participants regarding selected nocturnal animals from the animal collection of Nandankanan Zoological Park, he said.

The educational program will be conducted only on Sundays and maximum 20 participants are allowed per day, Nanda informed.

The Zoo authority will arrange Battery Operated Vehicles for participants, and no extra charges incurred in this regard.

Online registration has been started through the website of Nandankanan. (www.nandankanan.org). Registration fee for each participant is Rs 25O.

Registered participants need to report at 6.15 PM at Multi Level Car Parking Facility of Nandankanan Zoological Park. Program starts at 6.30 PM & ends at 8.00 PM, officials said.

The participants need to show the online generated tickets at the time of entry. Parking facility for vehicle will be arranged at Multi Level Car Parking area of Nandankanan (charges applicable).

Further, participants will not be allowed to carry any bag/ luggage with them during the programme. Participants are not allowed to bring their DSLR or Video recording instrument. Videography and photography are not allowed during the programme.

Participants need to follow the instructions of the assisting Zoo education staff/volunteer strictly, the officials said.

The Forest Department has prepared a 20 year master plan for development of the Nandankanan Zoo.

As part of the plan, the zoo area will get an expansion with the Chudanga and  Krushnaprasad forest has been decided to be included in the development area.  As a result, the total area of Nandankanan Zoo will be 1,043 hectares.

There are proposals for upgradation, addition of new enclosures, and construction of a new safari in the master plan.
