NIDM Makes Data Request

Bhubaneswar: National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has requested the State Governments to regularly update data in the India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN).

IDRN is a web based platform for managing the inventory of equipment, skilled human resources and critical supplies for emergency response.

Further it has also requested to encourage all Public Sector Organizations (PSO) , Private sector and NGOs/Hospitals also requested to update / include the Oxygen Cylinders with various line departments on the IDRN web portal on real time basis on priority.

IDRN initiated by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the GOI – UNDP Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Program, to build up a systematic inventory of equipment and skilled human resources so that disaster managers can find the location and details of the resources for immediate response. 2

National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs has been managing the IDRN Portal since June 2008.

The online inventory of resources i.e., IDRN, is hosted in the National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi. NIDM is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the data and the portal.

Authorized government officers have access to the Portal and the District Authorities are authorized for uploading and updating the data after collecting it from various line departments of their respective districts.

The updation of the information on IDRN Portal is the responsibility of the District Authorities.

NIDM has been repeatedly requesting the States through letters/ emails/Telephone, etc., for regular updation of the data in IDRN portal. It is however, observed that some of districts are yet to update their data on regular basis.

In the absence of regular updates, the available data may be of little use during emergencies.

Considering the importance of IDRN and resource inventory in managing emergencies and to make optimum use of this facility, it is requested that all District Collectors, update inventories of resources available with various line departments and agencies uploaded in the portal using services of District Informatics Officers.
