NIC Inspires Organ Donation

Bhubaneswar: The Inspire Lecture Series, an initiative of NIC Odisha, continues to foster creativity, alleviate apprehensions, and promote positive thinking among officers. As part of this series, an enlightening lecture on body and organ donation was delivered by Dr. Pravash Chandra Acharya on May 4 at NIC, Bhubaneswar.

Dr. Acharya, who is also the Founder Chairman of the Body and Organ Donation Society of India, spoke extensively on the prevailing myths, fears, and superstitions surrounding organ donation. He highlighted the urgent need for greater public awareness and sensitization. He also elaborated on the procedures, methods, and legal aspects governing organ donation for both living and deceased donors.

The session witnessed active participation from over a hundred NIC Odisha employees, both in person and through virtual mode. Participants engaged in an interactive discussion, during which Dr. Acharya addressed several queries and clarified common misconceptions related to organ donation.

In his welcome address, Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, shared his family’s commitment to organ donation and encouraged attendees to consider contributing to this noble cause.

Shri Pradeepta Kumar Tripathy, Vice-President of the Federation of Blood Donors Organisation of India, joining the occasion inspired all for organ donation. Notably, a significant number of participants pledged to support body and organ donation, marking a meaningful outcome of the event.
