New Delhi: In a major push to enhance regional connectivity and infrastructure resilience, Dr. Krishan Kumar, Managing Director of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), is undertaking a comprehensive review of projects in Leh, and Ladakh.
The intensive review is particularly focused on the progress of the strategically vital NH-301, a 234-km-long Kargil–Zanskar corridor, which is being constructed under challenging terrain conditions.
The NH-301 project, divided into eight distinct construction packages, is a cornerstone of the region’s infrastructure development. NHIDCL has announced that three of these packages have already been completed, marking a significant milestone in providing reliable, all-weather connectivity.
This progress is expected to not only improve travel for locals and tourists but also to boost economic opportunities and strengthen military logistics in the remote, high-altitude region.
The completed sections, which include road widening and bridge construction, demonstrate NHIDCL’s commitment to expediting the project. The ongoing work on the remaining five packages involves overcoming significant logistical and environmental challenges, a task the corporation is addressing with advanced engineering techniques.
Top brass of NHIDCL visit is a hands-on approach to assess the ground-level situation, identify any bottlenecks, and accelerate the pace of construction to ensure the remaining packages are completed on schedule.
This project is a key component of the government’s broader vision to bolster infrastructure in border areas, which is crucial for the security and socio-economic development of Ladakh.
