NCW Asks For Fair Investigation

New Delhi: The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of a media post wherein allegations have been leveled that a missing woman school teacher of Sunshine English Medium School, Mahaling, Kalahandi District was raped and dumped underground at an under constructed stadium of the school following murder.

As per the report, the prime accused has fled from police custody. It has been alleged that the escape was aided by Ministers of BJD Government especially Minister of State (Home), Capt. Dibyashankar Mishra.

 It has been reported that Capt. Dibyashankar Mishra was frequently visiting the school and even stayed in the school for night. A reported, another Minster, Sh. Pratap Jena also visited the same school on various occasions before the victim went missing under mysterious circumstances.

The Commission condemns the incident. Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik highlighting that the ministers in the state are using their mighty positions for exploiting and sexually harassing women and also manipulating police investigation in the case.

The Commission has requested him to personally take cognizance of this case and also that it requires immediate removal of Capt Dibyashankar Mishra and Sh. Pratap Jena from the position of Ministers to enable the police to conduct fair and just investigation without any undue influence.

NCW has also written to DGP Odisha to ensure fair investigation in the matter and to book all the accused under relevant provisions of law.

 NCW has sought immediate arrest of the accused and to provide necessary safety to the family of the victim considering involvement of influential people in the matter till all the accused are arrested.

 The investigation must be accomplished in a time bound manner. The action taken must be apprised to the Commission at the earliest.
