Bhubaneswar: BJD Chief and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik’s spine surgery for cervical arthritis at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai has been successful, according to his physician, Dr. Ramakanta Panda.
“The surgery was successful. Today, he has been kept for observation. He is currently conscious and is also talking to everyone,” stated Dr. Panda, who is supervising the procedure. He further added that Mr. Patnaik is expected to be discharged in the next 5-6 days.
The hospital also issued a statement confirming the success of the surgery and that Shri Patnaik is stable and currently under observation. Dr. Panda elaborated that the main procedure took approximately two hours, with Shri Patnaik remaining in the operation theatre for a total of four hours. He will remain under observation for two days before being shifted to a private room.
A large number of BJD leaders and workers across Odisha offered prayers for BJD Supremo’s speedy recovery at various temples, demonstrating widespread concern and affection for the former Chief Minister.
Shri Patnaik had traveled to Mumbai on June 20 for the surgery. In his absence BJD senior vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra is managing party affairs.
