Puri: BJP National President and Union Health Minister J P Nadda has all praise for State BJP leaders and State President Manmohan Samal for their hard work which brought a more than expected result for the BJP in the recently concluded Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the State.
Shri Nadda addressed the first State executive meet of the party after forming government in Odisha here today.
“Words will fall short if I am to praise the party workers for what they did to make the lotus bloom here. Now, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, we will bend over backwards to serve the Odisha people. I am also thankful to the people of Odisha for showering their blessings on us,” Nadda said in his address.
Recounting his earlier talk with Manmohan Samal to double the number of LS seats in the State, the BJP chief said, “You won 20 out of 21 seats and contributed in the formation of the Government in the Centre.”
The BJP’s contribution of votes for the Lok Sabha election in the state was 45 per cent, which has helped Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister for the third term in a row.
In the past 60 years, for the first time, Modi has become the PM of the country for the third consecutive term, he said.
Though Jawaharlal Nehru was elected as PM three times in a row during the post-independence era, the situation was different at that time because the opposition was negligible, Nadda pointed out.
“There are NDA-led governments in 18 states and BJP-led governments in 13 states. I would like to say that the BJP is ruling over 58 per cent of the nation’s total land and 57 per cent of the total population,” he said.
As the people of Odisha have empowered the BJP, he urged the BJP leaders to take a pledge to change the fate as well as picture of the State in coming days.
Among others, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, State BJP President Manmohan Samal, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan & Jual Oram, Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida and KV Singh Deo, Odisha in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, MP Sambit Patra, MP Aparajita Sarangi, Samir Mohanty, and Baijayant Panda attended the executive meeting.
