New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday appointed Bihar cabinet minister Nitin Nabin as its National Working President, a decision that is effective immediately.
The appointment, which was approved by the party’s Parliamentary Board, was officially communicated through an order issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh.
Nabin is currently a minister in the Bihar government, holding the portfolio for Road Construction. He is a prominent four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bankipur constituency in Patna. He is the son of the late BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha. Nabin has a strong organizational background, having previously served as the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). The move is seen as a major organizational elevation for the young leader from Bihar.
Nitin Nabin, who has been appointed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Working President, has a long political career rooted in both the party’s youth wing and the Bihar state government. He is the son of the late veteran BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha.

Member of Legislative Assembly: He is a four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bankipur constituency in Patna. He first assumed the position in 2006, succeeding his father, and has continued to represent the constituency since it was delimited in 2010.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM): Nabin has a strong organizational background, notably serving as the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the party’s youth wing. He also previously held the position of State President of the BJYM in Bihar.
Ministerial Portfolios in Bihar: Nabin has held several key ministerial positions in the Bihar government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar:
- Minister of Road Construction (currently serving as of February 2025).
- Minister of Urban Development and Housing (March 2024 to February 2025, and previously from February 2021 to August 2022).
- Minister of Law and Justice (March 2024 to February 2025).
Party Organizational Roles in other States: He was also appointed as the state in-charge for the party’s Chhattisgarh unit in 2024, where he was credited for playing a pivotal role in strategizing the 2023 assembly elections which the BJP won.
His political trajectory highlights a blend of grassroots organizational work and significant administrative experience, which is expected to be utilized in his new national role.
