Bhubaneswar: Regional Plant Resource Center (RPRC), popularly known as Ekamra Kanan has got one of the finest IFS officers as its Chief Executive on 30 November.
Dr.K Murugesan has been given additional charge of Chief Executive RPRC on 30 November, when its present incumbent superannuates, as per notification of the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.
Dr.Murugesan, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary Odisha State Pollution Control Board has been assigned the charge of RPRC.
Dr.Murugesan, an avid morning walker and an ace environmentalist has been regularly visits Ekamra Kanan Botanical Gardens, the biggest park and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city every morning.
Ekamra Kanan spread over an area of 500 acres of land is managed by RPRC and Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change is extending all out support for the most popular morning destination, where hundreds of people flock to enjoy the beauty of nature.
With the presence of Dr.Murugesan as CE RPRC, there is lot of expectation among the morning walkers as well as Scientists of the Research Centre.
Scientific Temper is needed to be maintained and more research is needed on plants, said a senior scientist, who were not receiving any boost from the earlier management, rued a senior scientist.
“Now RPRC is under a perfect protector”, said a senior scientist, adding lot of new interventions are needed and we expect very positive response from Dr.Murugesan, who understands environment, plants and Ekamra Kanan as well.”
