Monsoon Covers More Districts

Bhubaneswar: The Southwest Monsoon continues its steady advance across Odisha, spreading its refreshing influence over several more districts today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced. This progression brings much-anticipated relief from pre-monsoon heat, promising a beneficial season for the state’s agriculture.

As of today, the monsoon has fully encompassed three districts: Malkangiri, Koraput, and Gajapati. It has also extended its reach to cover most parts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Ganjam, while making inroads into parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khordha, and Puri districts.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM), which marks the current frontier of the rain-bearing system, is currently passing through the following coordinates: 17.0°N/55°E, 17.5°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18.5°N/70°E, Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, 23.5°N/89.5°E, Balurghat, and 30°N/85°E.

Meteorological officials indicate that conditions remain favorable for the monsoon’s further advancement across the remaining parts of Odisha in the coming days.

The early arrival and steady progress of the monsoon are crucial for the upcoming Kharif cultivation, vital for the state’s agrarian economy. Residents in the newly covered areas can now look forward to more widespread rainfall in the days ahead.
