Bhubaneswar: BJP today announced candidates for another six MLA seats in Odisha. The party has named Purnachandra Mohapatra, a very popular doctor, for Barabati-Cuttack Assembly segment while Shambhunath Rout has been named for Ghasipura MLA seat.
It was speculated that cinestar and Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty would be the BJP’s MLA candidate from Barabati-Cuttack. But, the BJP central leadership has put to rest the speculation.
Similarly, there was a speculation in various circles that Soumya Ranjan Patnaik will be the BJP MLA candidate from Ghasipura. However, the BJP has named Rout from this seat. Now, it seems that Patnaik is not going to join the BJP.
The saffron party has nominated Ashish Patra for Bhograi Assembly constituency and Sudhanshu Nayak for Bhandaripokhari seat. Umesh Chandra Jena will contest from Bari MLA seat from BJP ticket.
Moreover, Prakash Chandra Ranabijuli has been named for the Begunia Assembly seat.
So far, the BJP has named 146 MLA candidates and 21 MP candidates for the ensuing elections. Candidate for Nilgiri seat yet to be announced by the BJP.
