Modi Urges For ‘Swadeshi’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt Deepavali greetings to the nation through a letter addressed to all citizens, where he highlighted recent national achievements and urged people to contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

The Prime Minister’s message emphasized the festival’s connection to the ideals of Lord Shri Ram, noting that this is the second Deepavali following the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He drew a parallel between Lord Ram’s teachings of upholding righteousness and the nation’s recent actions, specifically citing “Operation Sindoor,” which he stated was a demonstration of the country both upholding righteousness and avenging injustice.

A major focus of the letter was the progress in eliminating extremism. The Prime Minister remarked that this Deepavali is particularly special as lamps will be lit for the first time in remote districts where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been eradicated from the root. He described the efforts of those abandoning violence and joining the mainstream as a “major achievement.”

On the economic front, the letter pointed to “next-generation reforms,” including the implementation of lower GST rates, which has resulted in a “GST Bachat Utsav” (Savings Festival) saving citizens “thousands of crores of rupees.” He asserted that India has emerged as a symbol of stability and sensitivity amid global crises and is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy.

The Prime Minister concluded with a call to action, urging citizens to fulfill their duties toward national development by promoting “Swadeshi” (local products) and proudly saying: “This is Swadeshi!” He also called on the nation to promote the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Excellent India), respect all languages, maintain cleanliness, and prioritize health by embracing Yoga and reducing the use of oil in food. He wished that the festival would inspire lamps of harmony, cooperation, and positivity across society.
