Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in a special Krishi program at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, today. The Prime Minister also interacted with farmers before participating in the public program.
The Prime Minister launched two major schemes in the agriculture sector, with an outlay of Rs 35,440 crore. He launched the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana which has an outlay of Rs.24,000 crore.
He also launched the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses with an outlay of Rs. 11,440 crore. The Prime Minister also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation projects valued at over Rs 5,450 crore in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors, while laying the foundation stone for additional projects worth around Rs 815 crore.
The initiatives underscore the Prime Minister’s continuous focus on the welfare of farmers and the agriculture sector. The Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting crop diversification, and improving essential infrastructure like irrigation and post-harvest storage. Concurrently, the Dal National Crop Self-Reliance Mission is designed to boost domestic pulse production, strengthen the value chain, and work towards national self-sufficiency in pulses.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi expressed strong optimism about the impact of these new central schemes. The Chief Minister conveyed his hope and belief that the initiatives will significantly strengthen the economic condition of farmers across the state and pave a new, prosperous path in the field of food security for the country.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Principal Secretary Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Dr.Arabinda Kumar Padhee and other senior officials attended the program.
