Mo School Gets New Name

Bhubaneswar: As per announcement made by the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in his maiden Budget Speech, the State government has renamed the ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ launched by the previous BJD government as ‘Panchasakha Sikhya Setu’.

The School and Mass Education department has issued a notification in this regard after approval of the Planning and Convergence Department.

The Department has sent a communication to Project Director, OSEPA to take necessary steps. Detailed modalities and guidelines for Panchasakha Sikhya Setu are likely to be released soon.

The Chief Minister, who holds the Finance portfolio, in his Budget Speech had said, “Quality primary education can build the students for next level learning. We will encourage alumni participation in development of schools with matching Government shares through the scheme “Panchasakha Sikhya Setu Abhiyan” with allocation of Rs.332 crore for 2024-25.”

The “Mo School Abhiyan”, launched on November 14, 2017 by the previous government, has become one of the largest alumni connect programmes in the country. As per the contribution of the former student of a school, the government gives a 2X matching grant for the development of the school.

‘Mo School’s success has created community action beyond the alma mater. Local citizens have joined hands to create a movement.
