Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government is intensifying its efforts to deliver services and address grievances at the doorsteps of its citizens, embodying an ideology of service, dedication, and good governance. The State Administration is focused on ensuring that all government facilities and schemes are accessible to the most marginalized members of society, reinforcing its commitment to being a true “people’s government.”
In a demonstration of this commitment, Ganesh Ram SingKhuntia, Minister of Labour and State Employees’ Insurance and Forest, Environment and Climate Change Departments, conducted a surprise visit to the Nayapalli Labour Haat this morning. Commissioner Of Labour Indramani Tripathy accompanied the Minister.
The visit aimed to assess the effective implementation of labor department welfare schemes and their impact on the ground level.
During his interaction with the laborers, Minister Shri SingKhuntia addressed their concerns and discovered that a significant number lacked labor cards, which are essential for accessing crucial financial assistance such as education, marriage, maternity, death, and funeral support. Emphasizing the importance of registration, he directed departmental officers to establish an immediate help desk for on-the-spot registration and issuance of labor cards.
“The government is committed to ensuring that every laborer receives the benefits they are entitled to,” stated Minister SingKhuntia, instructing all labor officers to expedite the application process and promptly resolve the workers’ issues.
Subsequently, the Minister visited the Multipurpose Workers’ Shelter in Dumduma, where he gathered constructive suggestions from the workers and instructed officials to take immediate action.
The visit was attended by Joint Labour Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Pranab Kumar Patra, Khordha District Labour Officer Prabhakar Biswal, District Labour Officer (Welfare) Monalisa Jena, and other officials from the Khordha District Labour Office.
This visit marks a significant departure from previous practices, as no Labour Minister had previously conducted such a direct field assessment at a labor haat. The initiative by Minister Shri SingKhuntia was met with enthusiastic appreciation from the workers, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to addressing their needs and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.
