Bhubaneswar: The State Government has appointed Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra as Chairman of all nine development authorities functional at different parts of the State.
The BJP Government has brought necessary amendments to the Odisha Development Authorities Act,1982. Earlier, IAS officers were appointed to these posts.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (a) of Sub-section of Section-3 read with Sub-section (8) of Section-3 of Odisha Development Authorities Act, 1982 (Odisha Act 14 of 1982) and in supersession of all previous orders, the State Government do hereby appoint the Minister, (H&UD) as the Chairman of all Development Authorities with immediate effect until further order,” the H&UD Department said in a notification.
With this notification, now the H&UD Minister will head Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), Berhampur Development Authority, Sambalpur Development Authority, Rourkela Development Authority (RDA), Paradip Development Authority, Puri-Konark Development Authority, Kalinga Nagar Development Authority and Talcher-Angul-Meramandali Development Authority.
Meanwhile, the Department has also cancelled the appointment of retired IAS officer Sangramjit Nayak and retired OAS officer Sarada Prasad Panda in different positions.
Additional Secretary Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department Rabindra Kumar Sahoo has been given additional charge of Project Director, SUDA in place of Sarada Prasad Panda.
Similarly, Special Secretary H&UD Department Debasis Singh has been given additional charge as Director, Municipal Administration (DMA) and the Sections earlier dealt with by Sangramjit Nayak.
