Bhubaneswar: India’s emerging sports institute, MGM School of Sports today signed an MoU with Coaching Beyond, one of India’s premier cricket coaching institutions, founded by Coach Ravi Shastri, B Arun and R. Sridhar, former Team India coaches.
The agreement was signed between Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, CMD, MGM Minerals Ltd. and Ravi Shastri, Founder of Coaching Beyond here at a special event. MGM Minerals Wholetime Director Siddhartha Mohanty also graced the occasion.
Coaching Beyond will be the knowledge & technical partner for this venture of MGM School of Sports to facilitate and execute high quality coaching programs with the aim to bring the world’s best practices to the heart of Odisha, said MGM CMD Shri Mohanty.
In addition to these illustrious coaches, MGM School of Sports has also roped in S.L. Venkatapathy Raju, former Indian test cricketer as their consultant coach for this prestigious project.
The MGM CMD expressed his confidence and believes that this collaboration will augur well for the future of Odisha cricket and go on to become one of the most coveted cricket training centres in the world.
“About 40 years ago on this day, India played the first match in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. At that time I was in school and at that time I had no idea that 40 years after I would be in Odisha for such a memorable occasion,” Shri Shastri said.
He said that the collaboration between MGM Group and Coaching Beyond will provide the best coaching and other facilities to create international standard players from the MGM School of Sports. “I am sure that this school is going to the best coaching facility in the country in the coming days,” the former cricketer said.
“We have coaching schools in Hyderabad and Chennai. But we don’t have such a wonderful and large facility anywhere. Odisha MGM School of Sports is going to be the size of the cake,” he pointed out.
Lauding MGM Group and its CMD Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Shri Shastri said he (Mohanty) is there to support cricket in Odisha and we will take him all across the country.
“I am sure that MGM School of Sports is going to produce international standard cricket players from the soil of Odisha in the next decade,” Shastri said.
Odisha is a state rich in sporting heritage across various disciplines. To enhance the sporting culture in Odisha and produce more outstanding cricketers, MGM Group has established a state-of-the-art High Performance Cricket Academy near Cuttack city, 30 kms from Bhubaneswar, named MGM School of Sports.
It will promote the ideal objectives of high performance & quality-driven cricket culture in the state. This residential academy is a fully owned subsidiary of MGM Minerals Ltd., the flagship company of MGM Group, Odisha.
With the support of the present administrative machinery namely, the State Government, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) we are confident that the MGM School of Sports, will enhance the cricket ecosystem in Odisha and strive to produce outstanding cricketers.
MGM School of Sports will work as a feeder organization in the model of National Cricket Academy & other coaching centres of high reputation.
