Bhubaneswar: Under the guidance of Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, a high-level review meeting of the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) was conducted to chart a comprehensive growth map for the state’s dairy sector.
Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development(FARD), Shri Gokulananda Mallick, led the detailed review session.
During the presentation, Secretary of FARD, Shri Prem Chandra Chaudhary, outlined the state government’s blueprint and long-term vision to expand supportive networks and welfare infrastructure extensively for milk farmers across Odisha.

Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd. (OMFED) has achieved a historic milestone by earning a net profit of Rs. 10.23 crore during the financial year 2025–26, reflecting the success of its operational reforms, infrastructure expansion, and farmer-centric initiatives.
Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at the OMFED Head Office, Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development and MSME, Shri Gokulananda Mallick, said that OMFED has emerged as a trusted symbol of quality, purity, and taste among consumers while strengthening the economic condition of lakhs of dairy farmers across Odisha. The Minister stated that Odisha has played a significant role in the White Revolution and stressed the need for dedicated efforts to enhance milk production, expand market reach, introduce innovative dairy products, and implement effective management reforms. He emphasized that the State Government remains committed to making Odisha self-reliant in milk and dairy products.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of various programmes and projects undertaken by OMFED, including issues relating to milk cooperative societies, dairy plants, milk procurement systems, and infrastructure upgradation. He directed officials to ensure the timely resolution of operational challenges and accelerate developmental activities.
OMFED recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,036.82 crore during 2025–26, the highest in its history, demonstrating remarkable growth in production, procurement, and marketing activities.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, Shri Prem Chandra Chaudhary, highlighted the Department’s continued commitment to the welfare of dairy farmers. He informed that new dairy plants with capacities of 50,000 litres at Sonepur and 30,000 litres at Tangi have been established to strengthen milk processing infrastructure in the State. He further informed that 1,061 new milk cooperative societies have been registered during the last two years, significantly expanding the dairy cooperative network in Odisha.
Managing Director of OMFED, Shri Vijay Amruta Kulange, presented the future roadmap of the Federation and stressed the need to adopt a hassle-free milk procurement system, increase milk production, and ensure economic prosperity for nearly 3.28 lakh dairy farmers by 2030. He also emphasized achieving self-sufficiency in milk and dairy products.
Under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana, 21 new milk chilling centres have been established across the State to strengthen cold-chain infrastructure. At present, OMFED procures around 6.70 lakh litres of milk daily from nearly 3.24 lakh farmers through 4,455 milk cooperative societies. To further strengthen milk procurement at the grassroots level, 160 new milk collection centres are being opened in different blocks of Odisha.
OMFED has also expanded its product portfolio with value-added products such as Lassi, UHT Chocolate Shake, A2 Milk, A2 Ghee, Balti Dahi, and Gulab Jamun, which are receiving an encouraging response from consumers.
The review meeting was attended by Shri Kishore Chandra Pradhani, President, OMFED; officials of the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation; office bearers of various Milk Unions; and senior departmental officials.
