Mapping For SIR

Bhubaneswar: The upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 will prioritize a comprehensive mapping of the 2025 voter list against the 2002 electoral roll as a mandatory baseline.

This strategic alignment was the focal point of a detailed presentation hosted at the Media Center of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Odisha.

Chief Electoral Officer Shri R.S. Gopalan explained that this mapping process is being conducted under the specific directives of the Election Commission of India. By using the 2002 records as a foundational reference point, the department aims to ensure the highest level of accuracy and data integrity within the current electoral database.

The mapping exercise involves a detailed verification of key identifiers, including the voter’s name, father’s or relative’s name, age, date of birth, polling station details, part numbers, and EPIC (Electors Photo Identification Card) details. To facilitate this on the ground, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will provide direct assistance to citizens. Additionally, voters can perform their own data verification through digital platforms such as the ECINET portal, the Voter Service Portal, the official CEO Odisha website, and the ECINET mobile application.

Citizens are encouraged to cross-reference their names in both the 2025 and 2002 lists. If an individual’s name is not found in the 2002 records, they can secure their mapping by providing the details of their parents. In cases where neither the individual nor their parents are found in the 2002 list, the details of grandparents can be submitted to establish the necessary link.

Shri Gopalan emphasized that this mapping is a procedural alignment and does not require the submission of any physical documents or Aadhaar cards at this stage. He further clarified that once the formal SIR begins, any new name registrations will be handled according to the standard statutory procedures.

The briefing was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Additional CEO Shri Sushanta Kumar Mishra, Joint CEO Shri Gopinath Kunar, and Deputy CEO Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahoo.
