Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Transport Department, Smt. Usha Padhee, conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing initiatives at the State Transport Authority (STA) today, emphasizing efficiency, road safety, and technology integration.
State Transport Commissioner Shri Amitabh Thakur and other senior STA officials were present during the review.
Smt. Padhee held detailed discussions with STA officers and staff, with a strong focus on the effective implementation of the OTS (One Time Settlement) scheme for simultaneous e-challan payment.
She directed officials to ensure the scheme is efficient, transparent, and user-friendly so that the maximum number of citizens can benefit. The Principal Secretary stressed the need to leverage technology to improve service delivery and public convenience across all departmental functions.
Smt. Padhee reiterated that road safety remains the Department’s top priority. She urged officials to work proactively and collectively to reduce road accidents through a three-pronged approach: awareness drives, strict enforcement, and innovative safety measures.
She underscored the impact of collective effort, stating, “Every small step in enforcement and awareness can save lives — it is our shared civic duty to ensure safer roads for all.”
Smt. Padhee encouraged officers and employees to execute their duties with enthusiasm, integrity, and a strong sense of public service. She highlighted that teamwork and dedication are vital for achieving the Department’s overarching goals.
