New Delhi: With the State facing potato crisis due to halt of transportation of the kitchen essential from West Bengal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reached out to his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee to end the crisis.
Shri Majhi met Shrimati Banerjee in New Delhi as both Chief Ministers were in the national capital to attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog held today.
Shri Majhi urged Mamata to streamline the potato supply chain. He urged her to resolve the issue earlier since people in Odisha are facing problems with restriction on the supply from Bengal leading to an artificial price rise here.
Meanwhile, Food & Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra claimed that potato procurement from West Bengal has resumed following a discussion with the neighbouring State government.
Speaking to media persons, the Minister said potato price soared in the State as it could not be imported from West Bengal. But following a discussion with the West Bengal government, the trucks carrying potatoes have now been allowed to enter Odisha, he informed.
Shri Patra said that potato is now being sold at Rs 32 to Rs 34 per kg.
