Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to discuss significant reforms and upcoming steps for strengthening the education sector in Odisha.
The meeting, held at the Union Minister’s official residence, focused on a comprehensive review of the country’s and Odisha’s education system, with a particular emphasis on the National Education Policy (NEP) and related reforms. Minister School & Mass Education, Shri Nityananda Gond was present.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Shri Saswat Mishra, Secretary School & Mass Education, Shrimati Shalini Pandit, PS to CM Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, State Project Director, OSEPA, Shrimati Ananya Das attended the meeting.

During their discussion, both leaders highlighted the importance of improving educational infrastructure in the state. This includes initiatives like the establishment of “Sishu Vatikas” (pre-schools) and the development of “Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya” (model primary schools) in every panchayat.
A key point of the agenda was the implementation of the NEP’s 5+3+3+4 model in Odisha, replacing the older 10+2 system.
The leaders also addressed the need to reduce dropout rates among tribal students and stressed the importance of incorporating Odisha’s rich cultural and historical heritage into the curriculum.
Both Shri Majhi and Shri Pradhan expressed a shared commitment to providing inclusive and quality education, with the goal of preparing the youth for a “Viksit Odisha” (Developed Odisha) and “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
The meeting’s outcomes are expected to pave the way for accelerated growth and a more modern, equitable educational ecosystem in the state.
