Mahotsav Showcases Chhau

Bhubaneswar: The Day Two of 20th Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav jointly organized by Department of Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Government of Odisha and Orissa Dance Academy in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and Art Vision witnessed a beautiful blend of Indian classical and martial dance forms by renowned artistes showcasing Kathak, Odissi and Chhau dance.

Ace Administrator, Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Finance and Energy graced the occasion and lighted the lamp.

Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary Industries,  Lalit Mansingh, Fomer Indian Ambassador to USA; Ashok Jain, Vice Chairman, SPICMACAY; Guru Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy and Guru, Ileana Citaristi, Secretary, Art Vision. The program was anchored by  Srinivas Ghatuari and Ananya Parida.

The opening performance of the evening was Kathak Dance by Aanart Dance Company, Ahmedabad led by Ishira Parikh and Maulik Shah.  Their first presentation was AntarNaad, an embodiment of a human being’s strong connect with the supreme power followed by Nirvighnam, aura and energy of Lord Ganesha that mere chanting of his name brings peace, harmony and prosperity to mankind. Next item was RaaghavRaaghuraai, story of PrabhuShriRaam adored deity of Hindu religion and mythology followed by Bansuriya, mystical melodies flowing from Bansuri resides on Krishna’s lips, charming, enthralling, intoxicating. Aanart Dance Company last item was Utsav, Joy, Exhilaration, Fervor  these are the feelings connected with our innermost sense of well being and celebration is the manifestation of the desire to express these feelings. The dance were choreographed by Ishira Parikh and Maulik Shah.

Following it was a mesmerizing Odissi performance byGunjan Dance Academy, Cuttack led by Meera Das. The dancers from Gujan Dance Academy presented BinduRuSindhu depicted to women’s character beautifully and unanimous to the course of the river. Script was prepared by Kedar Mishra and Meera Das, Dance was composed and Choreography by Guru Meera Das and Music and Rhythm was composed by Ananda Prasanna Pattnaik.


The concluding presentation of the evening was Mayurbhanj Chhau Dance by Abhishek Tripathy & Group (A K  Creation, Khurda). They were presented Sannidhya, emphasizes on single use of plastic harms life on earth and to maintain the ecosystem for the future generation. The dance was choreographed by Ileana Citaristi.
