Mahima Peetha Transformation Fast Tracked

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg chaired a high level review meeting today at Lokseba Bhawan to discuss the comprehensive redevelopment and holistic development of the Mahima Peetha in Joranda, Dhenkanal.

Principal Secretary Department of Works, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh outlined the details on this crucial project and as the primary seat of Mahima Dharma, which emphasizes simplicity, equality, and universal well-being, the shrine is set to undergo a major transformation to enhance its spiritual and architectural significance.

A key highlight of the discussion was the proposal to construct a magnificent and tall new temple that will encapsulate the existing Sunya Mandir within its structure. The project also focuses on the overall improvement of the temple complex, including the Akhanda Jyoti Mandir, Bhajan Mandap, prayer halls, and the sacred pond. To cater to the needs of devotees and tourists, the plan incorporates the development of a modern kitchen, guest houses, and organized parking facilities.

Principal Secretary, Works Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, informed the Chief Secretary that the project layout was finalized after extensive consultations with monks and followers of Mahima Dharma, ensuring alignment with the Chief Minister’s vision for the shrine’s development. The construction is scheduled to be completed within three years.

The meeting was attended by OBCC Managing Director Shri Samir Hota and other senior officials, while Dhenkanal Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil joined the proceedings via video conferencing.

The redevelopment of Mahima Peetha holds immense cultural and spiritual significance for the state. By upgrading the infrastructure of this historical site, the government aims to preserve the unique heritage of Mahima Dharma while making it more accessible to global followers.

The transformation of the Sunya Mandir into a grand architectural landmark is expected to create a major spiritual hub, significantly boosting religious tourism in Odisha.

Furthermore, the systematic development of peripheral facilities ensures that the growing number of visitors can experience the shrine’s tranquility with modern convenience, ultimately placing Joranda on the international tourism map.
