New Delhi: Devotees across India are celebrating Parshuram Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The festival is being observed with traditional fervor and enthusiasm.Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi greeted everyone on Lord Parshuram Jayanti today.
Lord Parshuram is revered as a warrior sage, known for his courage, wisdom, and devotion. Parshuram Jayanti is primarily observed by Hindus, who engage in prayers, fasting, and visiting temples dedicated to Lord Parshuram.
Several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra have declared public holidays to mark the occasion. Schools and government offices remain closed in these states, allowing people to partake in the festivities.
In many regions, processions called Shobha Yatras and Kalash Yatras are being organized, with devotees carrying idols and singing hymns. Temples are adorned with flowers and lights, and special pujas and havans are being performed. Devotees are also sharing Bhandara Prasad, a sacred community meal.
The celebrations are particularly grand at the Parshuram Mandir in Mokama, Bihar, where the state government has recognized the event as a state festival.
