Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to preserve the sanctity and structural integrity of the ancient spiritual traditions at the Ekamra Kshetra, the two-member committee appointed under the direction of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has formally submitted its interim report regarding the regulation of rituals for Shree Lingaraj Mahaprabhu.
The committee, led by retired Justice Dr. Durga Prasanna Chowdhury and distinguished scholar Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra, presented the comprehensive document to the Minister of Law, Works, and Excise, Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, marking a pivotal step in the systemic restoration of the temple’s socio-legal and ritualistic framework.
Principal Secretary Department of Law, Dr.Pabitra Mohan Samal and Additional Secretary Law, Shri Shiba Prasad Mahapatra was present during the presentation of Report.
The urgency of this report stems from a profound necessity to synchronize ancient records of rights with contemporary administrative exigencies.
By meticulously analyzing historical documents and engaging in deep consultations with the Sevayats and various Nijogas, the committee has sought to synthesize a narrative that honors the layered causality of the temple’s heritage while ensuring the precise execution of the daily Nitikanti and grand festivals.
This evidence-based approach aims to mitigate historical irregularities and establish a transparent, orderly protocol for the worship of the Lord Lingaraj Mahaprabhu.
Minister Shri Harichandan emphasized that Shree Lingaraj Mahaprabhu remains a central pillar of Odia identity and a source of immense moral and spiritual gravity for devotees across the nation.
He reiterated that the state acknowledges its duty to protect the sentiments of the faithful by ensuring that the Seva Puja is conducted with the utmost dignity and precision.
The final report, expected to follow this interim synthesis, will serve as a definitive blueprint for the seamless conduct of processions and ceremonies, reinforcing the spiritual sovereignty of the deity within the administrative landscape of Odisha.
