LHB In Puri-Bangiriposi Express

Bhubaneswar: The Puri-Bangiriposi-Puri Super-Fast Express has been upgraded with state-of-the-art Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches, marking a significant step towards improving passenger safety and comfort. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on his X Platform.

Regular service with the new LHB coaches will commence from Puri on April 29, 2025, and from Bangiriposi on April 30, 2025.

The inaugural run of the upgraded train took place on April 28, 2025, from Bangiriposi Station.

The upgraded train composition includes:

  • One AC Chair Car
  • Six Second Class Reserved Seating coaches
  • Five General Second Class Seating coaches
  • One Guard cum Motor Car
  • One Guard cum Second Class Seating coach designed for Divyangjan (passengers with disabilities)

LHB coaches are known for their anti-telescopic design, which significantly reduces the risk of coaches overturning or piling up in the event of a collision. They also offer a more comfortable travel experience with reduced noise and vibrations.

Several dignitaries were present at the inaugural run, including Naba Charan Majhi, MP, Mayurbhanj (Lok Sabha), Mamata Mohanta, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha), Sanjali Murmu, MLA, Bangriposi, and Bhadav Hansdah, MLA, Saraskana.

The transition to LHB coaches is expected to provide a safer, more efficient, and modern travel experience for passengers on this route.
