Rayagada: District Collector Shri Ashutosh Kulkarni inaugurated the district level admission festival and Khadichhuan programme today. The ceremony marked the beginning of the formal educational journey for young children through the traditional Khadichhuan ritual.
The district level admission festival and Khadichhuan ceremony led by Rayagada District Collector Shri Kulkarni are part of a broader statewide initiative launched by the Odisha Government.
This year, the state has institutionalized these traditional ceremonies under the Praveshanotsav or School Enrollment Festival to ensure every child is integrated into the formal education system.
The event in Rayagada mirrors the state level ceremony today held in Bhubaneswar, where the Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi formally initiated young learners.
By celebrating Khadichhuan as a public festival, the District Administration is supporting the state goal of making the start of education a joyful and culturally significant milestone for families.
The distribution of teaching kits and educational materials in Rayagada aligns with the Nipun Odisha and Padhiba Gadhhiba Odisha missions. These programs focus on foundational literacy and numeracy, utilizing tools like the Jadui Pitara or Magic Box to promote activity-based learning through toys, puzzles, and stories.
Universal Enrollment Goals The deployment of the awareness rath in Rayagada serves the state’s objective of achieving 100 percent enrollment. These mobile units, known as Shiksha Sachetanata Raths, are being used across all districts to bridge the gap between government services and the public, specifically targeting rural and tribal areas to ensure no child is left behind.
Integration of Pre-Primary Education In line with the National Education Policy and state directives, these enrollment drives also focus on transitioning children from Anganwadi centers into the Shishu Vatika framework, effectively integrating pre-primary learning into the formal school structure.
During the event, the District Administration distributed essential teaching kits to the new students to support their learning activities.
In addition to the enrollment ceremony, the District Collector Shri Kulkarni launched an awareness rath to promote the importance of education throughout the region. This mobile unit is designed to travel across the district to encourage parents to enroll their children in schools and highlight various government educational initiatives.
