Krushi Odisha To Kick Start

Bhubaneswar: Krushi Odisha, a three-day seminar cum exhibition organized by Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment is all set to start here at Biju Patanaik Play Ground said Dr.Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment.

Dr.Padhee said that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to inaugurate the event in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and other dignitaries. This year’s theme of Krushi Odisha is, “A Step towards Sustainable Food System” which has three sub-themes i.e Climate Smart Agriculture, Organic Farming and Water Governance.

The first day will exclusively be devoted for Climate Resilient Food System & Climate Smart Horticulture, second day for Soil Health, Natural Farming and its value chain & the third day is devoted for Pani Panchayat Pakhya Palan with Sustainable Water Governance, officials said.

A sustainable food system in Odisha aims to promote local economies, improve environmental health, and increase food security through a number of interconnected objectives.

This three days programme organised by Government of Odisha will showcase and leverage the great potential of State and enormous investment opportunities in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing, and Fisheries & Animal Husbandry Sectors, they said.

There will be footfall of around 10,000 farmers & farm women, SHGs, FPOs, NGOs, Pani Panchayat members, Agri-entrepreneurs, Exporters, students, research scholars, manufacturers from different corners of the State.

There will be 13 Technical Sessions in coordination with different State Government & Central Government department, ICAR institutes, CGIAR institutes, NGOs, farmer –scientist interactions , seminars , farmer facilitation centre, experience –learning centre ,display of farm machineries , more than 200 stalls exhibiting various farm produce and advanced technology in Agriculture with an aim of Seeing is believing, the officials said.

To make this event more engaging, various quizzes programmes, debates, storytelling, poem recitation, skit competition, virtual experience zone, Farmer Facilitation Centre, and an Experimental Learning Centre are being organised.

The Progressive farmers, Agri-Entrepreneurs, SHGs/FPOs from 30 districts of the State Agriculture and Allied Sector who have shown their excellence in successful farming modules will be felicitated in the event.
