Bhubaneswar: In a major push to strengthen Odisha’s agricultural sector ahead of the 2026 Rabi season, the State Government has extended financial assistance through the CM-KISAN Funding Program.
On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, directly preceding the agricultural festival of Nuakhai, the Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi transferred more than 833 crore rupees into the bank accounts of over 41 lakh families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under the CM-KISAN scheme during an event in Bhubaneswar.
This financial support represents the fifth installment of the program and will assist farmers in purchasing essential agricultural inputs for the upcoming Rabi crop season.
The state government aims to ensure the social and financial security of farmers by offering fair prices per quintal of paddy under the Samrudha Krushak Yojana, promoting allied agricultural activities, and providing free technical education to the children of farming families through the Krushi Bidyanidhi scheme.
Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav welcomed Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision and for his determination for extending support for farmers across the state.
Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Shri Jadhav, said that 41 lakh farmers alongside 14,000 landless agricultural workers will benefit from this scheme.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi was happy to transfer Rs.833 Crore via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure seamless and transparent delivery. This initiative aims to provide timely financial resources so farmers can effectively utilize the capital for upcoming agricultural production and seasonal preparations.
Expressing gratitude for the inter-departmental support, Shri Jadhav thanked Deputy Chief Minister Shri K V Singh Deo and Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Shri Suresh Pujari for their backing of the state’s agricultural community.
Highlighting educational initiatives run alongside financial aid, Shri Jadhav outlined the progress of the Krushi Bidyanidhi Program. The initiative provides financial assistance for higher and technical education to the children of farming families.
Under this program, 38,910 students have received benefits totaling over Rs 291 crore, marking a historic level of support from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment for higher education.
Drawing from his own roots within the farming community, Shri Jadhav urged beneficiaries to maximize these funds to accelerate agricultural development and enhance productivity across Odisha.
