Kishor Mohanty No More

Jharsuguda: Senior Biju Janata Dal Lawmaker from Brajrajnagar and Ex-Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Kishore Kumar Mohanty is no more.

Mr.Mohanty suffered a massive cardiac arrest on 30 December evening and breathed his last at a private hospital in Jharsuguda.

Born on 4 December, 1958, Mr.Mohanty was a suave and amiable political leader of Western Odisha was elected to the State Legislative Assembly from Jharsuguda thrice. He was the Government Chief Whip for four years during 2004 to 2008 and also later elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Mr.Mohanty was first elected to the Assembly in 1990 and has been a veteran leader from Western Odisha during his long political career over 35  years.

He was a student leader and led the student movement in Western Odisha on several issues.

He was also Chairman of Western Odisha Development Council(WODC).

In 2019 elections to State Legislative Assembly he was elected to Odisha House from Brajrajnagar Constituency.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Surjya Narayan Patro mourned his demise..

Veteran BJD Stalwart and Senior Vice President of BJD, Anang Uday Singh Deo expressed shock over his untimely death.

Mr.Singh Deo said he seriously worked for the poor people of Western Odisha and was a nice and helpful person.

Condoling his untimely death, Mr.Singh Deo said he demise has created a void in the Public Life in Western Odisha
