Keonjhar Steel Hope Brightens

Keonjhar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently conducted a review meeting in his home district of Keonjhar, focusing on accelerating various developmental projects. The Chief Minister also participated in several public events aimed at improving local services and promoting industrial growth.

During his visit, CM Shri Majhi flagged off three new ambulances and a “Maa Tarini’s coconut collection vehicle,” a unique initiative likely tied to the renowned Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatagaon, where coconuts are a popular offering. He also inaugurated a new public toilet at the Collector’s office, a small but significant step for public convenience.

A major highlight of the visit was the Chief Minister’s address to a public gathering, where he expressed optimism about a new mega steel plant planned for Keonjhar.

He announced that a company has already deposited money for land acquisition, indicating that the project is moving forward. The establishment of the plant is expected to boost the district’s economy and provide new employment opportunities.

Reports indicate that this is a joint venture between JSW Group and South Korean steel giant POSCO, with an initial production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and an investment of over Rs 40,000 crore. The government has identified two land patches for the project, one near Taramakant and another at Patna.

This development marks a significant step for Keonjhar, which, despite being rich in mineral resources, has historically lacked large-scale industries. The Chief Minister has emphasized that his government is focused on balanced industrial growth to transform the state’s economy.
