Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo chaired a high-level meeting at Kharavel Bhawan in Bhubaneswar to review the Adani Group’s proposed investments in the clean energy sector of Odisha. The discussions centered on advancing the state’s green energy ambitions and reinforcing long-term energy security.
Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, detailed the various programs and outlined the state’s structural roadmap for incoming sustainable energy projects. During the deliberations, senior representatives from the Adani Group, with corporate oversight led by Shri Karan Adani, presented an expansive investment blueprint.
The proposals feature major infrastructure developments, including nuclear power plants, ultra-supercritical thermal power facilities, and advanced pumped storage projects meant to ensure reliable baseload power with reduced emissions. These initiatives build upon existing ventures such as the pumped storage project underway in the Nayagarh district. State energy officials highlighted that these large-scale projects align with national net-zero targets and are supported by progressive state policies like the SHANTI Act.
The proposed business expansion features major infrastructure developments, including two massive nuclear power plants, ultra-supercritical thermal power facilities, and advanced pumped storage projects meant to ensure reliable baseload power with reduced emissions. These new initiatives build upon existing ventures in the state, such as the 1.8 GW pumped storage project already underway in the Nayagarh district. State energy officials highlighted that these multi-sector additions by the Adani Group align with national net-zero targets, create over 22,000 employment opportunities, and are heavily supported by progressive state policies like the SHANTI Act
