Kamakhya Exp Derailed

Cuttack: Kamakhya AC Express (train No- 12551) derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli in Cuttack district at 11.54 AM today, a senior railway official said.

“As per information we have received so far, the train was detailed at Cuttack-Mangala PH in between Cuttack and Nirgundi railway stations at 11.54 AM. Eleven coaches of the train have been derailed,” said Ashok Kumar Mishra, chief public relation officer (CPRO), East Coast Railway.

Accident relief and medical relief trains have also been rushed to the spot.  A special train is being arranged to send stranded passengers of the affected train, for their destination, he said.

 “Our frontline officers and supporting staff reached the spot. Our general manager and other senior officers will also reach there soon,” Mishra said.

He further informed, “We have mobilized our resources and informed NDRF and fire service.”

Few passengers have been injured in the incident. However, no official statement has been issued so far about injury or causality in the incident.
