Kalikesh Face Off With KV

Balangir: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lawmaker Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has taken up the issue of the ongoing fertilizer shortage in Balangir district, calling on the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment to take immediate and strict action.

In a review meeting held recently, Shri Singh Deo expressed serious concern over the scarcity of urea and other essential fertilizers, which is causing distress among farmers in the region. Farmers have been complaining that due to the unavailability of fertilizers through official channels, they are being forced to purchase the necessary agricultural inputs at exorbitant prices from the black market.

The lawmaker has urged authorities to implement stringent enforcement measures to curb black marketing and ensure the timely and adequate supply of urea to farmers. He emphasized that the state’s agrarian economy is dependent on the timely availability of such inputs, and any disruption could severely impact crop yields and farmer livelihoods.

Shri Singh Deo’s intervention comes amidst growing protests by farmers in the district, who have been demanding a solution to the crisis. He highlighted the need for the administration to streamline the supply chain and hold accountable those found to be hoarding or selling fertilizers illegally. The BJD leader stated that the government must protect the interests of the farmers and prevent them from being exploited by unscrupulous dealers.

While Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo is raising concerns about the fertilizer shortage and urging action, the responsibility for addressing these issues directly falls under the purview of his cousin, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

BJD MLA of Balangir, Shri Singh Deo is taking up people’s issues and charging the BJP Government both inside and outside the Odisha Legislative Assembly in a determined way.

This is a clear example of how personal relationships can exist alongside political opposition in India’s regional politics, and it adds an interesting layer to the public discourse on governance and accountability.
