Cuttack: Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad sworn in as judge of Orissa High Court (HC) at a ceremony held on the court premises in Cuttack today.
The High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon administered the oath of office to justice Shripad, who was transferred from Karnataka high court to Orissa HC on May 1 this year following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
Justice Shripad enrolled as an advocate in July 1989 and he was practising in the High Courts of Karnataka & Madras. He was appointed as the senior standing counsel for the Election Commission of India and also as an additional central government standing counsel in 1999, official sources said.
He was Panel Counsel for few Nationalized Banks. He was also a para academician and a part-time lecturer in a Law College in Bengaluru for a few years. He was contributing articles to a few Kannada & English Newspapers & magazines.
Justice Dixit also participated in several television debates on matters of contemporary relevance.
Having been appointed as the Assistant Solicitor General of India in the year 2014, he was appearing for the Central Government in numerous important cases till his Elevation as a Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on 14th February 2018. . Justice Dixit has been a part of several important judgments, including the Hijab ban judgment (2022).
