Bhubaneswar: Retired Judge of the Orissa High Court Justice JP Das will monitor the probe into Minister Naba Das’s murder case.
Following the request of the State Government, the High Court has appointed retired judge JP Das to closely monitor the investigation of the Crime Branch into the heinous murder of Minister Shri Das.
Continuing taking action on this sensational case, the State Government today suspended Mitrabhanu Deo, the Personal Security Officer (PSO ) of Shri Das from service for alleged dereliction of duty.
The Government suspended the PSO a day after transferring Jharsuguda SP Rahul Jain, Brajarajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi, Brajarajnagar Police Station’s IIC Pradyumna Kumar Swain and Gandhi Chowk police outpost’s in-charge Sashi Bhusan Podha. The government has already dismissed accused ASI Gopal Das from services.
The Crime Branch, which is inquiring into the incident has taken Gopal on four-day remand and started interrogating him. Besides, the CB is also interrogating the family members of dismissed ASI Shri Das.
On the other hand, Opposition BJP and Congress continue their demand for a high-level probe.
The BJP has been demanding a CBI probe into the incident while the Congress party has been demanding a court monitored SIT into the case to unravel the truth.
The Minister was shot at by dismissed Police ASI Gopal Krushna Das from a close range at Brajarajnagar on last Sunday last while he was on his way to attend a public function.
The Minister was immediately rushed to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital and from there shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar where he succumbed to the injuries.
