Jharsuguda: JSW Energy Group has decided to expand the capacity of Ind Bharath Power Plant at Jharsuguda by adding another 800 MW, company sources said.
In this regard, the JSW Energy Group signed MoU with Odisha Government to expand the capacity of Ind Bharath Power Plant at Jharsuguda to 1500 MW from existing 700 MW.
On behalf of the Company, Jyoti Prakash Panda, JSW Group Head (Regulatory) signed the MoU.
The company has proposed to invest more than Rs 6,000 crore for expanding its capacity, the sources said.
In December 2022, JSW Energy has completed the acquisition of 700 MW Ind-Barath Energy (Utkal) for Rs 1,047.60 crore through insolvency proceedings.
Pursuant to the NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) approval order, the resolution plan has now been implemented and acquired the Ind-Barath Energy (Utkal) Ltd.
The Ind-Barath owns a 700 MW (350MW x 2 units) thermal power plant located at Jharsuguda district, of which Unit-I had been commissioned in 2016 but is non-operational since then due to financial stress at Ind-Barath while Unit-II is yet to be commissioned.
Very recently, JSW Energy Ltd has commissioned unit-1 (350 MW) at the thermal power plant.
