Bhubaneswar: Veteran Saffron Lawmaker, Jayanarayan Mishra today demanded CBI probe into high-profile Naba Das murder case and the 2008 gruesome murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati.
Speaking to media persons here at Assembly premises, Shri Mishra said he is demanding for CBI probe into the broad day-light murder the then Health Minister Naba Kishore Das and Hindu seer Laxmanananda Swaraswati, who was killed by some miscreants at his ashram in Kandhamal district.
“I will stick to the demand of CBI probe into these two murder cases,” the Sambalpur MLA said.
When asked whether he is unhappy as no position has been given to him in the new BJP government, Mishra said, “I am not unhappy. Why I will be unhappy?”
On his absence in the oath-taking ceremony of the BJP government, he replied, “Why should I visit there when I was not supposed to take any oath?”
Though he was denying, Shri Mishra’s reply indicates that he is unhappy with the decision of the BJP leadership on formation of the government in the State.
Naba Das was shot at by a policeman in Brajarajnagar in the Jharsuguda district on January 29 last year and succumbed to his bullet injuries in Bhubaneswar hospital a day later of the incident.
He had been the Health and Family Welfare Minister since 2019. He was a three-time MLA from the Jharsuguda constituency and was said to be an influential leader in the area.
Notably, Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati was killed by unidentified assailants on August 23, 2008. At least 38 people were killed in the month-long riot that followed the killing of Saraswati.
