Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
Odisha Administrative Service Association(OASA) was demanding his arrest and resorted to “Cease Work” Protest across the State.
DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena has confirmed Shri Pradhan’s arrest. Earlier Shri Pradhan reached DCP Office and said that he has come to cooperate with the Police on investigation.
After Shri Pradhan’s arrest at the DCP Office, he was taken to Capital Hospital for Medical Check up and later BJP Leader was presented in the SDJM Court. SDJM rejected his bail petition and he was remanded Judicial Custody for 14 days.
The incident, which occurred earlier this week, involved a group of individuals allegedly assaulting Senior OAS Officer Ratnakar Sahoo inside his office.
While five individuals have already been arrested in connection with the attack, including a BJP corporator, the OAS Association has publicly named Jagannath Pradhan as the “prime accused” and “kingpin” behind the incident, demanding his immediate arrest. This is the sixth arrest, DCP Shri Meena confirmed.
With Shri Pradhan’s arrest, Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has announced the withdrawal of their “Cease Work” protest.
This decision came after the arrest of Jagannath Pradhan, whom OASA had publicly named as the “prime accused” and “kingpin” behind an alleged assault on Senior OAS Officer Ratnakar Sahoo.
OAS Officers are expected to resume work from July 4th.
